2011 “CHOOSE TO REUSE!” Earth Month Poster Contest Details & Guidelines

Contest Dates:

The “Choose to Reuse!” poster contest runs now through Fri 4/29 (*DEADLINE EXTENDED*) at 3 pm. Posters can be submitted any time.   The FINAL DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS is Fri Apr 29 at 3PM. Winners will be announced on the school intercom during announcements in the first week of May and all poster entries will be displayed at school upon submission.

Theme: Choose to Reuse!

The theme for the Beye 2011 Earth Month Poster Contest is “Choose to Reuse!”  All poster submissions must relate to “REUSE,” and may:

  • illustrate what REUSING things means & why it is important
  • illustrate how we can REUSE things to conserve waste
  • illustrate how we are protecting the earth when we REUSE things

Winning Posters:

The winning posters will become printed posters to hang at school to promote Zero Waste lunches at Beye for the remainder of the school year and for the following school year, 2011 – 2012!! See below (“Judging Criteria/Prizes”) for information about how winning posters will be selected, and what winners will receive.

Submission Guidelines:

*Entry Info: Please make sure your first name, last name, grade, and teacher are written clearly on the back of your poster.

*Dimensions/Materials: Posters are to be on a standard brown paper grocery bag. Consider decorating your poster with reused and recycled materials. Use of color (crayons, chalk or oil pastels, paints, etc) are strongly encouraged.

*Inappropriate Materials: Most poster-making materials will be accepted, but please keep in mind that anything that could potentially be harmful, or that will decay, stink, or attract bugs will not be allowed.

*Message: The poster theme/content should also attempt to be either educational or persuasive, and all submissions should attempt to be as creative and eye-catching as possible. (See below regarding winner categories for most educational, persuasive, and creative posters.)

Submitting Your Poster:

Submit your completed poster to the office from now through Apr 29 at 3P. A green team member (parent volunteer) will double-check for appropriate content, log your poster in, and hang it.

Judging Criteria/Prizes:

*The theme of all poster submissions must relate to REUSE (both the message of your poster and the materials you use should speak to the theme of REUSE).

*There will be 3 winners from all grade levels and all submissions. One winning poster will be named from each of 3 categories:

  • the poster with the most educational (teaching) message about REUSE
  • the poster with the most persuasive (convincing) message about REUSE, and
  • the poster with the most creative execution regarding REUSE

*The top 3 winners (one in each of the above 3 categories) will receive fun prizes, recognition in an all-school announcement, and recognition in the BeyeStander and BeyeBytes.  All entrants will receive a prize for submitting a poster to the contest.
