In March, we celebrate National Nutrition Month, sponsored by the American Dietetic Association (http://www.eatright.org/nnm).
Check out all the ways we celebrate good food!
1. Every morning in March, we begin the day with a morning announcement–our nutrition “tip of the day”
2. Twice a week, we hold a Nutrition Quiz Corner during lunch
–children answer the nutrition question, and correct answers are entered in a raffle to win a great nutrition-themed prize
3. We hold a “Fear Factor” food tasting during lunch, featuring an unusual fruit or vegetable
4. We hang a foods of the month calendar in the Commons
5. We hold an all-school food drive to benefit the Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry
6. Our media specialist highlights books with a food theme
7. Classroom resources with nutrition as a subject are provided to teachers. For hard copies of instructions, game boards and pieces, or ABC food charts, please go to the resource box in the school office!
